Tips for scavenging Hawaiian shirts from thrift stores:

Here are a few tips to keep in mind as you look for certain Hawaiian shirts in your local thrift stores.

1. Vintage Hawaiian shirts are worth the most.

As I mentioned earlier, look for the vintage shirts. This is true for most items that I talk about on this blog, but definitely true when referring to Hawaiian shirts.

2. Look for the silk shirts.

Silk is also where the money’s at. If you can find a vintage Hawaiian shirt that is also made of silk, you definitely have a hot seller of your hands. I wrote an entire post about selling silk shirts on eBay, if you are interested.

For example, take a look at these silk Hawaiian shirt that recently sold on eBay:

3. Check the buttons.

This is just a general tip that can be applied to all button-front shirts that you are looking to purchase. Make sure all the buttons are included with the shirt because it’s very common in thrift stores for shirts to be out on the rack with missing buttons.

What about the extremely rare Hawaiian shirts?

The answer is yes, there are very utlra-rare Hawaiian shirts out there that are worth a lot of money. Unfortunately, they are very are to find. But for the fun of it, check out some of these that I found that sold recently on eBay:
